Data Collection Request
As part of our commitment to supporting your lifesaving work, Kitten College is conducting a data analysis to better understand the needs of your community’s neonatal kittens. Our goal is to use this data to identify trends, pinpoint “hotspot” areas for diversion programs, and determine how we can best deploy resources—like targeted foster recruitment—to support your organization during peak season.
To do this, we need your help, but we want to make it as easy on your team as possible. We understand that not all data may be tracked in the same way, so any information you can provide is incredibly valuable. We are more than happy to help you navigate this request. If it saves your staff time, you can provide us with temporary login access, and we would be glad to jump directly into your shelter management software—such as Chameleon, PetPoint, or Shelter Animals Count—to collect the data outlined in this request for you.
Quantitative Data (Past 5 Years)
Our goal with this data is to identify peak intake months, community hotspots, and current foster capacity. This will help us determine the ideal number of fosters needed and where to focus recruitment. We are hoping to gather data for kittens under 8 weeks of age, ideally broken down into two groups: 0-4 weeks and 5-8 weeks.
Annual & Monthly Intake
- Total number of kittens (in at-least two age groups) received annually.
- A monthly breakdown of kitten intake (to help us identify peak season).
- Annual intake by location and intake type (e.g., stray, owner surrender) for these age groups.
- This is extremely helpful for planning shelter diversion and community support programs.
- Outcome data for the 0-4 week and 5-8 week age groups.
- Average Annual Length-of-Stay for both age groups.
- Approximately how many active foster caretakers do you currently have who serve neonate kittens?
- Approximately how many active rescue partners currently assist your organization with neonate kittens?
